Where is nerdvana

Chef Mike brings serious talent to this newly opened contemporary American restaurant, overseeing the culinary programs at both the restaurant and coffee shop, which add up to over 10, square feet of sheer you guessed it nerdvana. Boasting free video game consoles for patrons at many of the booths and the bar, the restaurant allows you to take control of both modern and throwback video games while enjoying your meal.

Take the Gumbo Deconstruction, for instance. Each component of the deconstructed gumbo is battered in a manner that complements the individual piece: Grilled chicken, shrimp, fried okra, fried green tomatoes and griddled rice cakes all sit on a plate with a small bowl of creole gumbo for dipping or sipping. The Chicken Melt eats sort of like a Cubano sandwich, but with fried chicken. Every sandwich comes with a side salad, instead.

Before chef Mike opened the restaurant, someone told him that every good Texas restaurant must have fries, ketchup, ranch and bbq sauce. He offers none of those on the menu…just another way Nerdvana is outside the norm. Almost every dish name on the menu seems to have a cool — and nerdy — backstory. The Hadouken Beef a spicy and tender starter is named after a special attack in the Street Fighter video game series, and the Shrimp Diablo was coined after an action role-playing hack and slash video game.

Enjoy half-priced drinks by the glass during happy hour every Tuesday through Friday from 4 p. Not easy to get in to or out of. Those seated at the ends had no idea what the others were saying. Not good for conversation. Fun drink and app menu. Disappointed in entree menu. Perhaps my expectations were to high. Great place for date night. Food was subpar especially for the price. Food was good, service a bit slow and disorganized. Games were fun to play, but for those that are not big gamers it would be good to have a quick start guide at the table.

A little on the pricey side, but would recommend for a fun night out with couples, or family night with older teens or college kids home for the summer. Fun place, food not as good as we had hoped. For a Saturday night the place was dead. It is way too big of a space and the food just okay. I don't think this place will make it that long. This was great. Came here for mothers day with family. The food, service and outdoor dining was fantastic.

Great value. Everyone in our party said this was a keeper. Thank you Nerdvana for a great dining experience. Awesome food and great service! The whole family had a blast and truly enjoyed the entire experience!!! So we thought we would try out a new place for brunch and felt optimistic about this restaurant from the online menu.

The overall premise is a bit odd in my opinion, but we don't play video games. The service was horrible, food came out thirty minutes after we ordered and you could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp for most of that time. Eggs benedict The only thing that was good was my husbands yogurt parfait and I am pretty sure no cooking was required for that.

The thing that made us the most upset was the fact that you can't get a latte with breakfast -- they literally own own a coffee shop next door. We were told twice that to get a coffee drink you would have to walk over to the coffee shop to get one yourself.

The reason they don't make high-margin coffee drinks in the restaurant is apparently due to storage After explaining to the waitress that it's just milk and coffee beans, she promptly scolded us and said "If it's that easy, you should just make it at home". The two additional times she slapped the table and told us to have a nice day in a condescending tone, and being irritated that we asked her for salt and pepper for our eggs which she slammed down as well didn't help.

To be honest, I am not sure how the food would be if it was warm, because we didn't eat anything. She did want to spend a lot of time telling us how much they are understaffed and how it was a bad managerial decision to only have two waitstaff working on Sunday for brunch.

She's full of opinions Eastern brunch with family. We've been for dinner before but felt brunch was better. Loved the lavender mimosa and my husband ordered the Bloody Mary which was outstanding, albeit the most expensive item of the meal.

The console booths are great, kids get to play video games. Eggs Benedict, French toast, traditional egg dishes, etc. Love having the place nearby. Although our waiter was attentive, he missed on some of the small details such as straws for the children's drinks; didn't ask how we wanted a burger cooked came to the table quite raw. We were there for Easter brunch. My husband did not care for the potatoes, as stated earlier, my son's burger was raw and my daughter-in-law's steak benedict meat was not great.

I had the crabcake benedict and it was quite good. It was some of the little things I thought were missing, such as a simple ranch dressing. Not sure if I would go back. Easter brunch! From the greeting to the exit Oh and our service was phenomenal thank you Justin!!!! Plus He gave us great insight on the menu; what his favorites were and what we may like!! We will be back!!! I took my husband here for his birthday thinking it would be fun to play games while eating dinner.

First of all, I thought, because I read it in a review, that they had video games and board games. They only have a small number of video game consoles and no board games.

We were a party of 7 so we were initially sat in the far back corner of the empty restaurant there was only one other party in the place. This table had no games, which is the only reason I chose this restaurant, so they had to separate us into two tables so we could play games. We got an X-Box that had only 3 lame games on it.

Very disappointing. The food was OK but definitely not worth the price they charge for it. The drinks are over priced as well. The service wasn't anything spectacular either.

The place has the potential fun and unique restaurant but is far from there. We will not be returning. Service was very low on the attentiveness scale They were not busy and the hostess even told us they were slow.

The entire staff seemed to be more self involved in their own personal lives as opposed to the task at hand Won't be going back. Me and my gamer husband went here and had a great time. Every booth has a gaming system Amazing drink menu and the food was incredible. Definitely will be back for more!! Our server went on about the weather, his car, and his life for approximately a minute felt like 5 before offering me a beverage. He was slow with service.

The food came in a reasonable time, but extras we needed such as extra sauce, refills, etc. The food was great!

We both got the Game Over and enjoyed that the meat was cooked perfect and the dish was seasoned well. The rest of the menu looked creative and left us wanting to come back and try different items.

The ambiance is super sleek, and modern. Very clean looking. We will definitely be back, but please give us a different server. Fun atmosphere with the games at the bar but I wish we had known that only the bar seating has video game access my husband was looking forward to playing a bit since it's a neat concept but since we made a reservation we were seated at a table without. The food and drinks were great. Very loud. I'm not a gamer so I'm not their target customer.

Food and service were good but it seemed expensive for what it is. Is it a fun, hip place for young people to go have a drink with friends and play video games? Well, not exactly: the entree price points are way too high for that. Is it a foodie mecca, where you can go enjoy a well-prepared cocktail, consistently great tasting, beautifully presented dishes and have a choice of good wines?

Uh, not so much: waitstaff doesn't know what types of spirits they carry can't name one , and when asked about bleu cheese olives for a martini, respond with "No, we only have the green ones. Goes away to check on the wine situation, and comes back with a story: "We lost the key to the wine cabinet.

I took my super nerd fiance there for date night. They just happened to seat us at a booth that had Super Smash Brothers, his all time favorite game! Our server, Nicole, was great!

She made drink recommendations based on our tastes, was attentive, and made sure that we had everything in a very timely manner. This place helped me win date night! Would definitely recommend it to friends and might even plan a double date with some friends very soon. Super fun atmosphere with great selections on the menus and excellent service.

We made a reservation under the assumption that we would be able to have a booth with the option to play video games. The hostess was lovely and tried to put us on a list to be sat at a booth with the games, but I think the whole please needs to have this feature, not just a few booths. My child was one of at least 5 kids not an exaggeration that could have used one.

It wasn't busy at all for a Sunday and that may be due to the fact that a pretty large percentage of Frisco's population has kids. I would definitely recommend it for the food, service and atmosphere. We were so excited to try Nerdvana for the first time tonight. My 18 year old asked for us to celebrate his birthday dinner there with his friends. I made a reservation earlier in the week, thinking it would be for all of us to be seated at the tables with games. Unfortunately, we were not.

They were able to work the birthday "boy" and friends into a game booth, but they only had two controllers. Our two younger sons that are 12 and 14 were not allowed to sit in a game booth, even though the games were Galaga and Mario Brothers and we, as their parents, were going to sit with them.

After feeling unwelcome and the 18 year olds sitting and watching just 2 play the game, we all decided it would be better to order pizza and play our own video game system at home. The waitstaff was very apologetic when we told her we were leaving before ordering. She even commented that she was so sorry for the bad birthday dinner.

Not a very family friendly place in family friendly Frisco. We are curious to see how long this place makes it. We were really rooting for it, but won't be back. Great food!
